Question

Laptop price enquiry

Jun 28, 2015 5:25AM PDT

Was curious if anyone could let me know how much my laptop would be worth if I were to sell it? It is a Toshiba satellite l855-149. I bought it two years ago. It is in great condition, no marks or scratches and charger is perfect. Only thing is my mum threw out the box. Thanks!

A 2 year old laptop for which the warranty is expired, is worth at most 50% of what you paid when it was new. You can try to get 60%, but it's doubtful if that will attract many buyers.

Have a look at the usual second-hand sites in your country (like eBay or craigslist) to see what others ask. Don't go much higher.

I've been using the 50% a year depreciation model.

Since it's used and batteries rated at 300 cycles well, the next buyer may offer more but that's the depreciation I use.

It gets worse if the original owner didn't make the restore media since that can cost 50 or so bucks.
