Question

Laptop operating systems/ memory

Aug 25, 2018 1:48PM PDT

I'm shopping for a laptop & all these numbers are confusing the heck out of me. What is the difference between 256GB SSD storage & 8GB 1866MHz LPDDR3 memory. What even is 8GB 1866MHz LPDDR3 memory? Would I want to go for the 16GB? I would mainly use if for everyday internet browsing, streaming & maybe photo editing. I have quite a bit of songs, movies, videos & photos. I would want it to run smoothly & have enough memory to last me a few years.

Let's just write that it has 8GB and stop. The rest is tech specs and not very interesting to most.

Today, 8GB is the sweet spot and 16GB is for gamers and others that want that last percent of performance. There is no sign that for browsing, streaming and everyday photo editing will require more.

The only problem I see is the main storage. Videos can eat a few GB each so are you sure you want to get into that?
