Question

Laptop on a €600 budget

Sep 14, 2016 6:13AM PDT

Looking for a new laptop and I'm looking to spend no more than €600. (I live in France!)

I'm not looking for a super machine as I know my budget does not allow it.

I mostly use my laptop for browsing/streaming but I do like to game and edit videos/photos.

The types of games I play are the likes of "The Binding of Isaac" so I really don't need much at all on that front!

The video/photo editing is an occasional hobby too so it's not like I need something that renders in a flash!

Basically I'm looking for something that is sturdy, (this is quite important as I haven't treated laptops well in the past although I'm going to change my ways!), can play relatively basic games and won't catch fire if I wanted to render a 20 minute video in Sony Vegas.

I'm terrible at judging between laptops so if anyone had any ideas and/or advice I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks
Alan

Answer
Since I'm not there.

Supply the forum with your short list. Since you are gaming, don't put models that don't have a dedicated GPU plus video memory on the list.

The A6 is not a happy place.

You want to skip A6 or lower AMD APUs. We have one at the office and it's not going to game. The AMD A8 barely gamed but only if you had the dual channel memory (2 matched sticks) and know to pull back on game settings.

Asus Option?

Thanks.

Did you managed to see the second ASUS Link I posted? The graphics card on it is much better from what I can tell and a lot of the other specs are spot on and the price is identical

I did look.

And vetted both my answers.
