Laptop / notebook Dell Inspiron 1545, problem with lcd

Oct 29, 2009 2:35PM PDT

I have a six month old notebook, Dell Inspiron 1545, and suddenly the display (lcd) do not properly perform any more. It shows thick odd colored vertical bands, icons are not clearly displayed, and it looks like the display is little for seeing all the content: as an example, the task bar is not seen any more, it looks like it is ten centimeters underneath the lower part of the lcd.
I sent my new notebook to a Dell representative service center, and they told me they have to change the lcd. The VGA output is performing properly.
Could you please advise me what other solution may I have?
Thanks all of you in advance.

Seems right.

Given the story it should be no problem since it's only 6 months old and the warranty applies (unless your story was incomplete.)

It seems but it is not

The warranty apply just for U.S.A. and I am not in this country. So my laptop is six months old without warranty.

Ouch.

You may learn why buying out of country is no real bargain. If you have family in the states, ship it there and have it repaired and shipped back.

Thanks for reminding others about this issue and sharing your lesson in spite of the pains.

Devil Many people seem to think "laptops" are bullet proof ..This is a VERY common problem in the newer light weight machines, and i believe usually caused by opening and closing by "1" corner of the L C D ,witch flexes and STRESSES the whole lid.. After you get it (THE SCREEN) repaired i recommend using both hands(one on each corner) or by the middle of the lid....GOOD LUCK with the warranty, I myself would turn you down do to abuse!!
Again GOOD LUCK...........book-em..........
