Question

Laptop not powering up

Jan 5, 2014 5:01AM PST

I have a Toshiba Satellite C855-S5350 and the display went out on it. I was able to use an external monitor to get on to my laptop while I waited for a new display and the laptop was still operating at this point. The display was a LP156WH4(TLN1). When I received the new display I hooked it up not realizing it was a LP156WH4(TLN2). When I tried to power on my laptop nothing happened. Would the wrong display cause my pc to barf like this or is there something else wrong? I plugged the ac into the jack and the ac light in front turns on. When I press the power button that light turns off and the power up light turns on for a split second and then nothing. What gives???

At the welcome post a generic reset is noted. Try that.

I tried that and it did not work.

Then it's likely to have a fault.

Try it with one stick of RAM and no HDD or ODD. (I abbreviated since I can't tell what level of tech you are yet.)

Negative. Pulled the one stick of RAM and HDD and nothing.

Some laptops have more optional parts.

Such as the ODD and the WiFi module. I always try it without and keep repeating the reset noted in the other forum just in case it is a module/stick/part that is cheaper than a new laptop.
