Batteries are 300 cycle rated so if you used these on battery power daily, in 2 years you would need a new battery on almost every laptop today. That is, no laptop (battery) will meet your goal.
However for not much the current #1 seller on this list http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Computers-Accessories-Laptop/zgbs/pc/565108 would be fine for writing and Netflixing. It's all of 250USD so no budget buster.
Yes, we have a similar CPU+RAM laptop at home. An Asus x200ca. It's fine.

Hello everyone!
Here it goes: I am a part time student/ part time magazine editor and I own a HP that after just 2 years works pretty bad - also, it's heavy as hell.
I want to purchase a laptop which is light to carry around in order to work from everywhere, but which is also quick and lasts longer than this HP (2 years old and already needs to be changed). I was advised to buy a Mac Air 13'' but it's very expensive and I am sure there's plenty other models I don't know about.
I don't need much memory, most of my work is done online. Would be cool to be able to use it for netflix as well and general internet shenanigans. Any advice? Hope my details are enough!
thank you all
Marta
