Question

Laptop Issue

Nov 20, 2012 4:07PM PST

I've recently been having this problem with my laptop where the screen goes blank, all the peripherals become non responsive, and the fans start going crazy.

At first, it wouldn't work at all. I would press the power button, a few lights would blink, the fans would spin, but it would never boot. Then, it started working ONLY when the AC adapter was unplugged, but still only for a short while before the screen went black and it started acting up again. Now, it works with the AC adapter plugged in as well, but to the same fate. I can't get it to stay on for more than an hour...

What could be causing this? It seems like there is a short somewhere, but why would it be happening sporadically?
