Question

Laptop intermittent problem

Dec 20, 2012 4:09PM PST

I have a Toshiba Satellite L750 running Windows 7 Home Premium.
It has always been working great.
Until I connected to my new workplace WiFi printer.
It wasn't until the following day that I booted up, when the trouble started.
Typing any text on Word, email, internet, will result in words missing letters.
Moving the mouse around the screen , it will freeze, then jump to way further than I want it to.
Clicking the trackpad buttons, I have to occasionally wait, then click again to get a response.

I ran AVG which found a couple of suspect files, fixed them, rebooted, no improvement. I ran Malware, no malicious files found.

As mentioned, the only recent change was connecting to the work Wifi printer, where it worked fine.

I would appreciate any insights and suggestions.
Thanks

- What exactly do you mean with 'connecting to a wireless printer'? Depending on that answer, did you try disconnecting?
- If it's a workplace printer, does the workplace have an IT person to have a look at the problem?
- If you look in Task Manager, what are the top 3 processes using the CPU and what percentage (sort on CPU use)?
- Does a wired (USB) keyboard have the same issues?

By connecting to a wireless printer, I mean that I received a wireless network access code, that enabled me to print wirelessly via the work router to the wireless enabled printer.

It is a small workplace, with non IT personell.

The top 3 processes are: Hardware interupts, sorry I can't see the percentage use for the individual Process, but it shows over 50,000k in Memory.

svchost: 43,000k

Search Indexer 35,000 k

When I go to Performance, it, doesn't seem to go much over a few percent.

THe freezing does not occur with both a wired keyboard and mouse.

Thanks for your help.

A couple thoughts:

Sounds like a corrupt driver.
If you have the chance find the latest divers for the printer then install and upgrade drivers.
If that doesn't work uninstall the printer then reinstall.

Thanks for your replies. Go figure, even after I turned it off and on a couple of times, It hadn't changed, and then this morning it has reverted to its normal working state.

Keep fingers crossed.
