laptop home theater???

Mar 28, 2005 7:43AM PST

I used to have my desktop hooked up to a 27 inch tv through s-video at 1024x768 (or something close). I just got a new tv and moved the 27 incher into the bedroom. What I want to do is set up a second pcht in the bedroom, wirelessly networking the two together, however I would love to have a laptop run the bedroom setup instead of a second pc, probably with a docking station. I've hooked a laptop up to the tv, albeit a slightly older laptop, with S-Video and the only accepted resolution was 640x480 (anything else only gave me the bottom left corner of what I expected). Are newer laptops set up to output a higher resolution through S-Video, or is that only a desktop video card feature?
