Laptop hard drive not working as external drive

I bought a SATA 2.5" 80Gb Toshiba internal hard drive along with a case enclosure with the compatible adapters and the USB cables, but after I put them togather and attached to the computer, there is no response. The hard drive powers up and the computer knows that its there but its icon does not appear in the "My Computer" folder. I tried messing around with Tweak UI to see weather it might help but nothing. I also connected the two USB cables to the back usb ports of the computer instead of the front ports thinking it might be the power supply, but the same problem prisists. I even tried to install drivers that came with the case but no luck. Lastly I attached it to a Mac to see if the apple computer would pick it up...but again NOTHING and the same with a Vista. Please i really need help with this one.

Look up photobucket and take some snaps so I can see if it's hooked up proper.

It's a new hard drive, right? You may check in Disk Management. I believe you will see it. As new partitions have not been created or the partitions have changed into Unallocated, so you can not see this drive in 'My Computer'.

Check the adapter again. Maybe the connection is not correct. If they have no problem, you may have purchased a bad drive.
