Laptop goes dark and won't respond

May 14, 2009 3:23AM PDT

If I leave my laptop for a half hour or so, come back and screen is dark and will not respond to any inputs. Must do hard stop with power button to shutdown and then restart. I have set options to NEVER go to sleep thinking that would so problem but doesn't. I had set it to turn screen off after 15 minutes but am going to change that to 2 hours and see what happens. Any other suggestions from anyone?

When you come back, is the computer still ?on? in that your hard drive and such have not turned off? If that?s the case, it does sound like your computer is sleeping despite the fact that you have your computer set to never sleep.

Does this happen when you?re plugged in or when you?re running on battery?

Yes the system is still on, the hard drive still running. I have to manually shutdown with the power button and then reboot system. It happens when it is plugged. Haven't even tried to see if it happens on battery.
