Question

Laptop goes back on after putting to sleep

Mar 23, 2017 9:14AM PDT

Laptop problem is that every time i turn it on, put to sleep, restart. It will always have the automatically focus on the last option or as if there is and invisible holding to END Button and only way to temporarily fix is to press the Left button. Please refer to the video i uploaded.

And because this problem i have, even if i set my laptop to go sleep if not use will turn back on and stay at the login screen until my laptop is drained and unused.

I thought it was some kind of malware but after i format my laptop to my surprise it still there and i cant find any solution to fix it.

Please help me find a fix for this as i have this since January.

Solution tried:
Scan with different kinds of Anti-virus as result is normal
Start using safe mode and still there
Lastly format laptop and still no improvement

i dont think it was any power settings as i didnt do anything with it and only happened after i downloaded something, i assume it was some kind of malware but scanning it with any anti malware doesnt detect anything. Also i tried to reformat my laptop as it has been factory reset still i got the same problem havent remove or improve.

You didn't say that
Mar 23, 2017 11:04AM PDT

you checked the settings so I responded as I did . That simple ...

The person I noted was positive 100 times that he had the settings right .
Only on the 101st attempt did he get it correct so, take it as is .

P.S. Leave the attitude somewhere else , I'm just a volunteer ....

Well thing is mine is different wont sleep, as you can see in the video i used even if i press power button it will turn back on and after it turns back on the thing focus on the end or as if there is something holding to end button and need to press left button to temporarily fix it. And its completely different from what your link to mine.

PS: i wont have this attitude because the way i interpret your 2nd reply is kinda rude!

A little bit of background might be useful. Such as:
- What make and mode?
- What version of Windows?
- What OS did it come with, and how did you upgrade?
- How did you format, and what did you do after formatting?

Other questions:
- Does hibernate work? Then use that in stead of sleep.
- Is it fixed if you go back to factory conditions from the original restore media? If not, it's a hardware issue or some strange setting in the BIOS.

- What OS did it come with, and how did you upgrade? bought my laptop with win8.1 and upgraded using free win10
- How did you format, and what did you do after formatting?using the Settings>Update & Security>Recovery>Advance Setup>and something in reset everything

I forgot to add this since my first post cant be edited:
Might be some malware since i notice this starts to happen after i downloaded some program for my phone but even i use any anti malware it detects nothing and says clean or so.

Assuming that that Recovery went back to factory conditions, the answer to my last question (that you didn't answer) is "no". That leads to one other test to prove that it's a hardware or BIOS issue: boot from a Linux disc or stick (free to make) and then put it to sleep. What happens?
If still the same, reset the BIOS to default values.
If still the same then, it's either a hardware issue or it's waking up by some external signal (clock, LAN). Disconnect everything you can (Ethernet, printer), turn off the wireless router and try again.

Owh, sorry didnt notice i got no anwser for that.

Is it fixed if you go back to factory conditions from the original restore media? Did this but still same result

If not, it's a hardware issue or some strange setting in the BIOS. For hardware issue, if it means the keyboard problem or so i guess not since i rarely use laptop keyboard and i only use extranal one

If still the same, reset the BIOS to default values. Sadly i have no idea about this, if its alright can you explain or help me with this?

- Hardware is everything inside, especially the motherboard.
- To reset the BIOS, find out how to enter the BIOS at boot. Usually it's del or esc or f2 or ... (totally depending on the maker of the laptop). It might be mentioned on the screen or in the user manual or on the site of the maker or somewhere on the net (use google then to find it). Then go through all subscreens and see where something like "reset to safe defaults" is.
- Wake upon settings are in the BIOS also.

You didn't yet try the Linux boot? That circumvents all Windows settings and issues and errors and drivers.

Re: Linux

Not difficult.

For example:
1. Download Linux Mint from https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php.
2. Burn the .iso file to DVD using your favorite burning program (or ImgBurn from http://www.imgburn.com/ if you don't have another favorite).
3. Boot from that DVD
4. Find the sleep option, choose it and see what happens.

Id like to review the video i uploaded, and try to explain clearly as im having difficulty in explaining to so im sorry for that.

In this video i Turned off the laptop (0:04) which suppose to put it in Sleep and instead of sleeping it turned back on and with the problem that forces to highlight the one in the very last item (0:16 in my video its OPERA) tried to open recycle bin (0:34) but instead to open it goes to the last part or lowest one. (0:59) Same after i click start menu notice that it goes all way down without scrolling it down.(1:00) I tried to scroll it up, but it keep on forcing to the lowest one. (1:13)And as for temporary fix i press the Left Button in my keyboard and it all back to normal. And it will go back once i reset/restart laptop or just turn off the monitor

....for "wake" functions, particularly WOL aka "wake on LAN". Others are wake on keyboard or mouse movements.
