Laptop getting error when trying to go into standby mode.

I am getting this error when I shut the screen of my laptop down. It just started in the past day or so. I think a windows software update was just download. here is the error.

The service 'Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1.4322 Update' is preventing the machine from entering standby. Try stopping this service and try again.

system restore

trying a system restore to a point where it was working correctly and you did not get the error, also before you did the update.

let us all know what happens.

I completed a system restore to the earliest restore point. That has fixed the problem. Thanks for your advice.
