Question

Laptop freezes in silence

Jun 9, 2016 2:35PM PDT

Hey guys.

I am not sure how to describe my problem properly. My laptop, especially after launching it again from stand-by mode, suddenly becomes silent. I don't speak about sounds inside Windows, but about laptop itself. It becomes silent as it wasn't on and blocks everything except mouse. This lasts 30+ seconds and then it starts working again.

I am afraid it might be a symptom of a larger problem that may escalate in time. Suggestions?

I see missing details.

My oldest laptop used to do that (it's some 2009 Sony Vaio C2D, 4GB RAM) but it finally coughed up a drive error and with drives being so cheap I installed a new one then took the W10 free upgrade offer. After that I did a clean install of W10 (only for those that are brave and more?)

For now give hibernation a shot and be sure your backups are current.

Backups

I will make sure about backups. The thing is the laptop is rather new (10 months). I doubt it is something technical...

I view these as nothing but technical devices. New is nice since you can claim the warranty now. They will have you do a factory reset first.
