Laptop freezes and crash

by Giulitexae / November 20, 2011 3:03 PM PST

It has been days that my laptop crashes when I visit a certain site and that happens various times in a day, always when I click that site. Being a PTC site there are thousands of people clicking that site but it seems that I am the only one who is having trouble since no one is posting it in the forums section. I tried both IE and Chrome and both react in the same way.
My comp will be 3 yrs old this December, is it too old?

More Information Please

Unfortunately, you've given us no information about your computer.. such as operating system, make and model, etc. Three years old isn't too old as long as you've kept it up. What antimalware scanners have you used?

We could ask you to post a link to the site here, but posting a "paid to click" site is much like SPAMming so the question comes about why you need to click on this particular link? Such sites frequently have malware associated with them and it's possible your security software is blocking intrusion attempts when you click on the link and as such, you're experiencing glitches when that happens. Much like the kid that says: "I burn my hand when I touch the hot stove" and we advise: "Then don't touch the hot stove", then same thing applies here.. I guess my question is: "What is the importance of this particular site?"

Hope this helps.

Hi Grif, thanks for your prompt reply.
OS is Widows 7, my comp is Samsung R510 and honestly I'm using a not genuine operating system. Some eight months ago my computer crashed and I had it fixed by some comp geek. My comp was in Italian since it was bought from Italy when I was still living there ( i just moved last year) and since the geek could not understand Italian he decided to just change or modify whatever was in my comp. The thing is he put a pirated software, I do not know why. There were problems after that but he managed to fix it but every time I have to wait for him when he has time, takes days at times.
I am still jobless, been a year since I arrived here in the US but work is just hard to find, and clicking PTC programs is my way of earning money. I can tell that you are not aware of PTCs, sites where advertisers advertise their websites and members get paid by clicking on those advertisements . Anyhow, when I have 4 programs running simultaneously and I'd click on that particular advert my comp freezes but only with that advert. I have been clicking that same advert for weeks but only a couple of days ago that the problem started.
Now, with all these laptops that are on sale is it worth to buy a new one or retain this old one and buy a new and genuine software for it?

I'd start with installing the supplied OS.

Contact Samsung for restore media if you forget to create them.
