Once you do, you'll call Toshiba and get them to fix it.

It's a Toshiba A70 laptop running XP Home will some times freeze up 3 times in an hour and I have had it 1 or 2 times to freeze up on startup.

Once you do, you'll call Toshiba and get them to fix it.

Kneejerk, it's the motherboard. Very common problem. However, make sure the fan is coming on properly, in fact it may help to turn it on constantly from the BIOS. Next, consider reseating the video card and if that doesn't do it, it's the motherboard.
This all assumes that the adapter and battery are good however. But given your symptoms, I would be surprised if it wasn't your motherboard.
Good luck, they can get pricey.
