You may want to click here for a recent discussion that covered a few different configurations, from Dell and HP, that offer solid performance at a far more affordable price. Any of them would be more than capable of running Final Fantasy XI, though you may want to go for one of the two latter configurations (not the initial Inspiron 1521 specs) for longer-term benefits.

Hope this helps,
John

Hi John,

Thanks for your great reply. I wish the reps at Dell were as helpfull as you. When i asked about the nvidia card and the Dell 1521 he should of been able to tell me about the 1520. Oh well i guess i got the one bad rep they have. Anyways after looking at that post you had told me to look at, i have come up with this:

My Components
SYSTEM COLOR Spring Green
PROCESSOR Intel

* That's a powerful laptop, more than qualified to run Vista Ultimate if you so choose.

* The resolution isn't needed and I can't see it ever being used on a 15" laptop screen, but it should translate to higher quality output if you ever, say, connected it to a digital projector. I believe it costs extra, so I'd drop it back down.

* The 7200rpm HD results in better performance but has a greater drain on the battery. Good to see you upgraded to the 85Whr 9-cell option to balance it out.

* The processor's fine and will do you well, so no worries there.

* The only thing I'd remove, assuming you have another internet connection, is AOL. My experiences produced lousy support, over billing, and some software that contained 'tools' on the verge of being spyware. I now refuse to install their software on my computers.

Overall another nice configuration at a reasonable price. It's capable of handling just about anything you throw at it, assuming you overlook the mistake Dell made by citing the wireless network card as being a/g in the options but then calling it b/g in the detailed description. (It's the latter, as it should be.) But, I digress.

Hope you enjoy it.
