Laptop for my teen anime artist

Oct 29, 2009 2:22AM PDT

Hello,

I am looking for a reliable computer for my teen who is an artist. It needs to support Photoshop & a wacom intros graphic tablet. She will be using it for animating cartoons and movies. We want to get the most bang for our buck, but I really wouldn't want to spend more than $1500.00 if possible. This computer will have to get her through the rest of high school & college. Thank you so much for your help!

Animation Computer recommendation

Do you have a more recent recommendation (2012)? My daughter needs a laptop for school, asp.
She is an animation student and I would like a computer that will last, and not overheat. Budget can go a little higher, but prefer under $1500.

But I've yet to find a perfect laptop. All overheat under certain conditions. If you have them on the tabletop in a room that is not an oven, then you can shop at the usual stores and pick which the new owner wants.

But for this I think the MacBook at near the 1K mark would be a good idea.

Asus Zenbook. The next laptop I'm going to buy will for sure be an ultra book, but they are coming out with a new wave of them this year, so that's what I'm waiting for. As great as the Zenbook is, it's got a few quirks of its own. All laptops do, and so the question will always be: which quirks can you live with.

I agree with R. Proffitt on this one. A Macbook would probably be the best option.
