Question

Laptop for Minecraft

Hi,

I am looking for a laptop for my 12 year old daughter. I have spent hours trawling the internet trying to research which would be best for her requirements but I am just getting more confused! I don't understand the terminology half the time I'm ashamed to say!

She needs to be able to play Minecraft on it primarily, but then also do school work, watch YouTube and films etc. She also likes to make her own vlogs so a web cam is important.

I'd like it to see her through secondary school and our budget is around the £400 mark.

I've seen a few that seem to be good but I've no idea which one would be best for her needs so please could someone look at the links and offer their opinion?

Your links.

The first to give a "forbidden" error, the last one a "page not found" error. Try again by linking not to a shop, but to the right page on the makers site or to a review on our site.

You can view youtube and movies and do school work (secondary school) on all current laptops. And they all come with a web cam. So that leaves only their suitability for Minecraft as a possibly relevant factor.

Assuming the secondary school in the UK is 5 or 6 years, that's long for a laptop, especially if she takes it with her to school every day. In that case: see if you can get a three years warranty. Also an insurance against drops and other accidents might be useful.
Unless she only uses it on her desk, also consider screen size, weight and battery life.

Minecraft requires a higher end graphics card to avoid lags

Personally, I would stay away from the HP unless you are willing to spend a lot in upgrades to graphics, etc. And even if you are willing to do that, the cost would put you in the range where there are better choices. I would look at Lenovo or maybe even consider a used Apple that has been checked out.
