Question

Laptop Dim after replacement.

by Flashy1978 / January 25, 2014 11:22 PM PST

Hello, I'm very stuck so im hoping someone can help me.

I have a Emachines E525 and about 3 weeks ago my screen went off but could see a faint image. So I replaced the inverter. All worked fine till last night. It shows for 1 second then goes off again, If I press the Fn Brightness button twice it comes back on for another seconds then shuts off again.

This is what I have done.

Replaced the Inverter cable to the mobo
Connected to a Monitor and it works fine
Took out CD drive and HD and tested
Tested with battery in and out.

Could it be the back light or something wrong with the Mobo that means my inverter blows.

Any help would be gratefully received!

Does it just dim out or does the unit shut down? When you replaced the inverter, did you get an OEM unit or aftermarket? Some and many aftermarket replacement inverters can create problems. IF the unit dims down but doesn't go to shut down, I'd suspect the backlight has gone South.

It could be several things, including your inverter..IF you used an OEM inverter and you wound up with the same dimming issue, the guess would be the back light needs replaced. I do NOT trust after market inverters I have, over the years, seen many different problems arise from their use.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
