laptop differences

I looking to purchase a new laptop between $700-1000 but after looking at the different brands, are there really any differences between sub-1000 laptops?

I'd imagine there is likely quite a bit of difference in terms of CPUs, RAM, and Hard drive space among various laptops or else why not just go get the cheapest one out there?

i said it wrong in my first msg, but if you configured all of the computers the same (ie hard drive, ram, etc) would there be anything different in the computers other than brands.

In theory no....

All the various makers would have some lemons that you'd have to note as well as various warranties which depending where you buy from and have things structured can play a role in getting it repaired quickly when something breaks which generally happens if you plan to use the laptop for say 5 years or more.
