Laptop cpo upgrades

I'm looking to upgrade the cpu in my laptop(Dell Latitude C840).It curently has a Pentium 4 1.60GHz & Windows XP pro os.How do i know what i can use?I'm looking at using a core2duo, but i'm not sure which one to ues.

But the usual P4 socket in laptops does not allow the Core Duo's to drop in. Many reasons but I'd look at other possible upgrades such as RAM or a faster bigger drive but that's about all most laptops can do.
