Laptop comparison

by pranal / December 5, 2017 10:06 AM PST

Hi I am trying to choose between 2 laptops that I bought over BF. please advise
1) Asus Q325UA - 512 Gb SSD (sata3); 16 Gb Ram (DDR3 1600 MHz); i7 7500U & 2 cell Li Po (39 Whr) Battery
2) Lenovo 910 Yoga - 256 Gb SSD (PCle); 8 Gb Ram (DDR4 2133 Mhz); i5 7200U & 4 cell Li Po (78 Whr) Battery
I prefer Lenovo's build quality but am concerned if 8 Gb ram and 7th gen i5 will be sufficient 2 years from now.
I plan to use this laptop for light browsing, movies, some basic MS Office/ excel computing. No gaming or heavy load applications.

1. is 13.3 inches and possible active pen.
2. Lenovo Yoga 910 8GB, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 Home), Silver seems to be another similar model but with a step down on CPU and memory.

For me, 256GB is a bit tight. RAM is not as big a deal since both have SSD. The Asus in this case would be my choice just on storage alone. But if you are truly going to stick to streaming movies but not keeping them on storage the cheaper model would do fine.

Yea extra storage is not that important to me. I was mostly concerned if i5 with 8 gb ram will ever be sufficient for my usage. Lenovo is a good $150 cheaper as well.

For video play, plenty.

My HTPC is a 2009 Sony Laptop with Core2Duo 4GB and plays 1080p just fine on a HDTV. Your i5 has double the RAM, double or more CPU and SSD.

Should be fine.
