Question

Laptop choice help

Sep 12, 2018 11:16AM PDT

Hi there,

I learned recently that on very.co.uk, I can get 10% off first order and can trade in an old xbox 360 for £150 when buying an ASUS laptop.

I wanted a laptop which is good for gaming so I was looking at this one (i7) but it has just went out of stock.

The alternative being this which is the same but i5 instead of i7.

My question is should I wait a while to see if that i7 comes back in stock or should I just go for the cheaper i5? Is there much difference between the two performance wise?

Thanks.

Is this spam?

Tow of the links are spam to me. As to the next item, gamers I know get the i7 over the i5. But if the budget dictates it, i5 will do. The GPU is a nice choice.

Not spam, thanks for the reply.

The processors in the links are i7-8750H (first link) and i5-8300H (second link).

The first link has went out of stock now. Just not sure whether to wait a while to see if it comes back in stock or just go with the second link which is the i5-8300H. The price difference between the two isn't much so that isn't what is going to sway my decision here. I more-so need to know whether I would notice much of a difference between the two processors, because if not, I would just go for the i5-8300H

what would you recommend i do?

I will only be using the laptop for gaming and internet browsing, would you recommend I hold out for a while to see if the i7 comes back in stock, or would you recommend I just go ahead with the i5?

The i7 may not come back in stock for who knows how long and the i5 may go out of stock soon. Do you reckon £650 is a good price for that i5?

For a 1060 equipped gaming laptop. I have a similar Acer Predator with the i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 1060 GPU and such and paid a lot more. It games very nicely and my real work is on Visual Studio, Android Studio, some like video work so I know this setup very well.

It's a fair to good price.
