My bet is they'll do a factory reset so get ready for that.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15, model 5558. It is part of the 5000 series, with a 5th generation Intel Core. It has an i5-5200U Processor, with 8GB of memory, 1TB hard drive, and it runs Windows 10. It is only six months old.
For approximately 2-3 months now, whenever I plug it in to the charging cable that arrived with the laptop, it does not charge (I receive the "Plugged in, not charging" message when I hover over the battery symbol). It will charge for just a few seconds and then stop. The battery will SOMETIMES begin to charge after being plugged in for a few hours, but this only happens 40% of the time. It will also charge around 60% of the time when it's asleep, but not every time.
Additionally, whenever I do plug it in and I'm using it, the laptop becomes incredibly slow and laggy. The CPU usage in the task manager does not skyrocket or even raise above 30%, but all audio on the computer, whether I'm using earphones or the speaker from the laptop, becomes scratchy and unbearable, as well as all functions on the laptop becoming basically useless, as scrolling of any type is extremely glitchy and slow. It also takes up to two minutes to open a new tab when the laptop is plugged in. However, if I unplug it, the second the charger leaves the charging port on the laptop, everything begins to work perfectly again. The second I plug it back it, the problem resumes. Once the laptop is fully charged, I can leave it plugged it and it begins to work properly again.
This is so frustrating to me, and I've looked all over the place for a solution. I don't understand how it can work sometimes but not work at other times-if it were a hardware problem, I would assume I would have this problem every time.
All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated! If you need any addition information, just let me know. Thank you so much!
