Resolved Question

Laptop Charger/Adapter compatible?

Aug 21, 2014 4:44AM PDT

Unexpectedly have to use a program that won't run on my 8.1 laptops. Salesman said this adapter would charge my old Gateway 19VDC 1.58A 30W LT2802u mini-laptop which is running Windows 7. The replacement charger is a: 90W universal laptop AC adapter w/USB charging port. Says input voltage is 110-240V/50-60Hz, w/output of 15V/16V18V/18.5V/19V/19.5/20V 4.5A. Am electronically challenged and afraid of fires (really -LOL). Will this blow up????
Thanks for earnest responses.

If that's the concern, and even then...

I only use the maker's chargers. Many OTM (other than the original maker) chargers are going to take some faith and more. It's been NO ISSUE to setup a PC with a larger Wattage supply for ever.

We only need to look at a light bulb to see what's up. Your wall outlet can supply over a KiloWatt but that does not fry what we plug in (well, not often that is.)

The devices only consume what they need.

Thanks, Bob, for explaining in a way even the most electronically challenged (e.g., myself) can understand :')
