It does not matter to the battery technology but the amount of energy the battery can store. Look at the Amp Hours of each to see which will run the machine longer.
I agree with the makers about withholding such details. It could be held against them if you picked a replacement and it failed.

I was hoping someone could explain the difference between a Lithium-ion battery and a Lithium-polymer and which one can I expect to give longer run times? I am researching laptops with the intention of a custom build.
Any advice or links to articles would be appreciated.
FYI I have outgrown my current laptop and ABSOLUTELY HATE the 6-cell battery it came with, so I am not bargain hunting. I want best performance available. I am aware that many factors affect run times.
Also, so far I am leaning toward a Sony Vaio F series, but does anyone know exactly what kind of batteries Sony uses in these?
The Sony "builder" doesn't specify, it just offers a "long life" upgrade. Thank you in advance.
