I'd skip all this and use a suitable USB audio solution.
Now that we have Windows 7 has any manufacturer produced a reasonably sized laptop with stereo line input for audio and something more than a monaural mixer. Toshiba made one a few years back but it was a giant. Dell calls their line "studio" but it must be a 50s studio with no stereo record capability. Can anyone help? I want to go into the field with a mike mixer and do some on site recordings. At home I want to use it to save my reel to reel 8 tracks, cassettes and vinyl. Ive spent hours on line and with mfg reps and most cant even give me an answer.
