laptop advice for home video editing

Nov 7, 2005 6:00AM PST

Hi.
I hope one of you savvy techies might be able to help me out. I'm in need of a new laptop, and require one that will allow me to do some home video editing. I am hoping to stay under the $1500 mark. I am considering the Toshiba Satelite M70 SR3 (centrino 1.73 Ghz, 512, 100 GIG..) or perhap a Dell Inspiron 6000. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Getting by with less here.

I have a simple r3000 with 2.0GHz Athlon 64, 512MB RAM, etc but have an external DVD recorder since the internal drives are rather slow. It was well under 1K and does what I need very well.

Keep shopping. You'll meet your mark.

desktop replacement-inspiron 9300
mainstream-acer travelmate 4400
thin and light-dell inspiron 600m or sony s series.
They all fit your budget and in fact, they have pretty high specs and good battery life. I will post a link to you if you want and the cheapest deal here might be the travelmate with really good specs. Hope this helps.
