Question

Laptop - 940MX - Gaming?

Aug 1, 2017 6:51AM PDT

Hey, i need to buy laptop for college and i want play some games on it but i have low buget..
I found this:

i5-7200U 2,5MHz
8GB DDR4
940MX 2GB GDDR5
15.6 " 1920x1080

Will it be enough for games like FIFA 17 and then FIFA 18 ?
Will it run Destiny 2 on low? Grin - I'm interested in this game but it is not 100% that i will play it.

I know.. 940MX sucks but 950m cost way more in our country (Czech Republic)

Thx, Mikel KoM.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-940MX.156033.0.html pretty much has all games on LOW and still a few in the red so about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destiny_2

It doesn't appear to be out and it's online to boot.

Maybe you need to forget gaming, shop for some college laptop (no GPU, use the onboard graphics) and shop for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One for gaming?

Nope. The 940MX did not meet the min requirements of the game. Read
https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/destiny-2/15764

http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-660-vs-GeForce-940MX shows the minimum GPU in Destiny 2's requirements to be quite a few levels up from the 940MX.

If you buy this, you won't be happy.

Answer
940MX might be too weak for games like Destiny 2

Hey Mikel,

940MX will handle FIFA and light MMOs...but not Destiny 2.

You'll need something close to a nvidia 1050 to enjoy it.

What else would you like to use the laptop for? Also does weight matter much to you?
