Did the Windows Update include an 'optional' video card driver update? If so I would guess that the driver changed the way the system handles extra monitors.
There is a general rule that we don't accept Microsoft offers via Windows Update for driver updates. They never did them well.
The easiest option to is to System Restore back to before these updates were installed. If that works, you will be offered the updates again but look out for any optional driver updates and refuse those.
My HP laptop screen cracked a few weeks ago and I connected a monitor onto the VGA port of the Laptop. All was working fine until windows did a update yesterday. After the reboot I cannot see anything on the external monitor.
The monitor display turns off once the starting windows screen is finished, up till that time everything is fine. Even the monitor power button turn to red.
I have tried to press the Fn button on the laptop keyboard to
switch displays but that does not work.
In safe mode everything is perfect. The laptop display turn of and only the external monitor is on.
Is there a keyboard combination to switch the screen since I cannot see anything on the laptop LCD I cannot make any changes.
Please Please help
I need to work but cant.
