Lap Top Problem

Nov 10, 2004 5:36AM PST

My daughter has just purchased a new HP laptop running Widows XP Professional I loaded Office 2000 and all went well.
She loaded her HP all in one printerscannerfax but somethimg went amiss and she uninstalled it.
Now on log on a popup appears saying can't find C:\swsetup\AllinOne\Setup\TrayApp
This can not be cancelled with the cancell button nor cancelled with the top X button
but can be removed by means of the control-alt-delete and task manager.

Any one any ideas as what to do.?
Thanks in advance
Tony

same problem (lap top problem)
Jan 10, 2005 9:58PM PST

i have exactly the same problem as you tony!
i did what kees baker said and removed it from the list in my msconfig. the only thing is to stop it from trying to install itself at the booting i had to uncheck the hp software update and the Hp digital imaging monitor. from then on my hp laptop had no more problems
my only question is, will the fact that i prevent these 2 programs from running be harmfull to my computer? i mean, the fact that i'm preventing hp software update from running... can that be harmful?
thanks for your answer.

Chris, It Shouldn't Be A Problem..

If your current HP software is running good, there's usually no reason to fix it by installing an update...

In most cases and depending on the exact software version, I uninstall as much special HP software as possible, or at least disable it in "msconfig" because it can cause conflicts and resource issues. The machine usually run smoother without it and most of their programs aren't required.

Hope this helps.

do you use the buttons?

With some all-in-ones, you need the program in the startup group for the buttons to work. So if you like to use the copy, scan or fax buttons rather than opening the program to perform those tasks, you may need it listed in the startup group. But for everyday printing, it should work fine.
