Lap top is missing first 8 gb hdd when defrag.

Jan 17, 2005 8:33AM PST

I had some weird icon sizes and things so i was adjusting properties page trying to get icons back to correct size. lap top blinked and then all settings reverted back to original desktop wallpaper by compaq. sort of mini crash? it freaked me out, so then i tried to do a restore and it would not let me. so then i went to compaq site and installed new help and support window and move on. everything seems ok, except now having frequent disconnects and icons still large... so then i did disk clean up and then ran disk defragmenter.

the weird thing now is it is supposed to be a 80 GB hdd and now when i go to disk defrag the first part is whited out. and at the top it says I have a 72 GB hdd
I dont understand what happened to 8 gb of hdd that seems to have disappeared. I thought i already posted this but cant seem to find it.
amd xp pro 64bit amd,pc3400+ compaq r3260us
thanks

It could be an 80 billion byte hard disk?

That gets us to the BINARY 74.43 Gigabytes.

It's not far to 72...

Nothing seems amiss yet.
