Lap top charging problem

I have a Gateway MT6707 laptop. The computer doesn't seem to work with the power cord. I have two and they both work on another computer and don't work on the one in trouble. I have even changed out the battery and it only drains the bad one. It will run on a charged battery, but it doesn't charge when plugged in. It also doesn't work when plugged in with the battery out. What might be the problem.
