The languages are for the menu's and dialog boxes and the OS itself and have nothing to do with converting one language to another.
For instance, if you leave the Chinese language in, and your parents select Chinese as the OS language, all warnings, informational dialogs and such will be in Chinese.
Removing Chinese will not affect browsing on the websites. They will render as normal because they are Font driven.
Hope that helps.

Firstly, I heard that Printer drivers and language packs may take up space so I wanted to free some and so I went and deleted all the unused printer drivers. I then heard about a program called Monolingual, which gets rid of language packs and apparently the Universal binary files (since I have a macbook, the PPC portion). Well, I got rid of the PPC portion and freed some space. The next step is to get rid of the excess language packs (all but english) but before I do so...
I only use the computer in english (U.S.) but there are the rare instances in which my parents would use my computer to use the internet for websites that are in chinese, so if I deleted all the languages, would it make those websites display in those weird squares and wingdings?
