Preferences/Spelling and Grammar/Dictionaries, . Choose your own language.
There is an annoying character that will answer most of your questions about M$ Office. These sorts of questions are best answered by you searching the Help section of Office.
Remember, if you are using the version of Word that came with your new machine, it will implode after 30 days. It is not free, it is not the Full version. If you have purchased the full version then you will be alright.

Changing Lanuage

P, I think that you are right about preferences/help.
I also think that the poster should have gone to the Microsoft Office Forum in the first place. Lots of great help there and also international help for the poster.

Your versions of Office are for Windows only.

You would stand a better chance of getting the answer to your question if you post in that forum.
