LaCie Hard Drive Problem

Apr 14, 2007 9:44AM PDT

I am working on a major project in Mac OS10 using a LaCie Terabyte external hard drive. The project is around 470 gigs, but LaCie hard drive only shows 90 gigs of storage left. Drive is not partitioned and we have been over project with a fine toothed comb and cannot find any reason for this. Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice much appreciated.

Isn't it 10.4.6?

LaCie hard drive problem

It's 10.4.8 actually, but the problem lies with the LaCie, not the Mac. Have you had this experience?

Just another question.

Did it come with the drive or drives? Some cases only support up to some size drive. Sorry to ask but it's not clear.

Also what did Lacie tell you when you asked them? The version of MacOSx should not have an issue here.

Possibly a Raid storage device?
Nov 26, 2007 10:03PM PST

Looking at some of the Lacie products, I wonder if the device actually has 2 smaller drives in it, and maybe it was formatted as a Raid array. Probably Raid 1, where each drive is the same size, and backs up each other (so data copied to the drive is duplicated on both disks). This would effectively make your 1 terabyte drive a 500 gigabyte drive...
