LaCie 319 Flat Panel Problem

Feb 17, 2009 6:00AM PST

I have a LaCie 19" pre-press style monitor. Mfgr. part number: 108622.

Here's the problem. Half of the right screen is o.k. but the left half of the screen seems to be re-scanning. The left side also has a vertical band from top to bottom that is about 2 inches wide and is all staticky.

Could it be the controller board?

Is there a part that could be replaced for this particular monitor, and is it simple to repair and if so how much would it cost?

Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

LaCie 319 Flat Panel Problem
Feb 17, 2009 9:58PM PST

I did ask LaCie. The monitor is just a month past its warranty period and they will not service the display panel. They wanted to sell me a new one instead. So they gave a generic list of "Geek" service providers to what amounted to no help.

I can only offer this.

We have entered the age of the disposable product. Many are learning this the hard way (first hand) but let's get back to your issue.

Lacie is just a brand. They design shape, write specs, and from all indications do not have a staff of electronic techs or engineers to repair your device.

To make matters worse companies are not sharing schematice and selling parts.

I'm unsure if you expected this to end badly but it appears it will as even it's own matter has no means to repair their own products.

-> One last idea. Does the issue show up on other computers?

Thinking it over.

What tells us the FX 5200 isn't the bad part?

This is why we'll have to try this on another PC/Mac.
