labelflash - lightscribe what's the difference?

Mar 18, 2010 5:46PM PDT

I just purchased a Toshiba Laptop for my wife - WIN7 - 64 bit and it came with a DVD drive that has labelflash. I thought everything would be included (software, etc.) but all I have is a labelflash compatable drive. I would like to use it but trying to find the correct information online is baffling. Do I have to use labelflash compatable media or will lightscibe media work? Do I need to purchase software or will the labelflash free download work? Where do I go to get the straight info on how to use this hardware. Toshiba doesn't provide much help in manual form or tech support.

LabelFlash...
Mar 19, 2010 6:05AM PDT

In short, LabelFlash is a competitor to LightScribe. The two use different technologies, so the software and DVD media are not interchangeable. However, Nero 8 and above support LabelFlash natively, as do OEM versions of Nero 7, and LabelFlash media is becoming more accessible as it's used in an increasing number of computers.

Hope this helps,
John
