Thanks for the kind words and review.
There may be some overcompensation on either the contrast or brightness. Do you have the settings on Dynamic? Usually this disappears when you use Standard or Movie setting.

I am a proud new owner of a Samsung LA46A650 and a BDP-1500 Blu-Ray Player. I am particularly impressed with the upscaler on the BDP-1500.
The quality is excellent.
Just a question: I notice that with the LCD Backlight settings the blank LCD screen has "wispy,random areas of light" appear, like whitish shadows. Is this normal?
They can be sometimes noticed when viewing a night scene on a widescreen movie (black stripes top & bottom).These light areas appear on the black stripes. This is minimised when the backlighting is reduced.
