LA40A650 6 Series 40 inch LCD TV

by tvtlinh / April 4, 2009 8:52 PM PDT

I just bought a LCD yesterday and I have been having trouble with the television just turning itself off. It happened a couple of times yesterday, however today it's been occuring pretty much every time I turn it on. Therefore it stays on a minute, some coloured vertical lines show up then the television turns off. I also hear a crackling noise when the tv is on. Could you please let me know whether this is a common problem that I could fix or whether it seems like a tech support problem.

tvtlinh,

If you can, exchange it for another one from your retailer. While this isn't a common problem on the 6-Series, I've seen some reported symptoms online.

If you can't return it, then you can get it repaired under the warranty.

Keep me posted.

Thanks, I have also talked to Samsung support and they have asked me to do a software upgrade to fix the problem. I am currently trying to install the software through a USB drive, but the tv is now having problems staying on long enough for me to finish the process. If this doesn't work, will be returning it to the retailer for the refund.

Thanks for the update. I do hope it works.

Hi, nice forum this is with lots of answers. But it ain't working in Firefox, keeps refreshing the page if you're trying to reply.

Anyway, I have the same tv LA40A650 1R and with a similair problem.
I bought the tv 6 months ago at E-max in Oman. And it keeps flicking between the standby mode and tv channel even if I turned the tv off in standby mode it goes on by itself, pretty annoying. So I'm not sure if I'm running the latest firmware (if that's the solution). So can you please provide me with a link to the firmware update, because at the shop they never heard of the term 'firmware'.

Thanks in Advance,

Yuri.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
