Cameras that use AA batteries usually come with Alkaline batteries.
The first thing you do is buy some NiMH AA batteries and a charger. You want to pick batteries that have a high mAh (milliamp-hour) rating (2000 or higher).
The higher the mAh rating, the longer the batteries will last on one charge.
You can find the battery/charger kits at WalMart.
Look near the camera and/or TV department.
The price is usually $10 to $20.

NiMH batteries will last 4 times longer than Alkaline batteries and the NiMh batteries are rechargeable.
..........................................
A set of NiMH batteries will have about the same amount of power storage as do the other types of rechargeable batteries that come with new cameras.
The NiMH batteries are much cheaper.

I have read about this camera and it seems that it is what I am looking for. It has 12X zoom, image stabilization and hot shoe capabilites; however, I am concerned about the use of 4 AA batteries instead of rechargeables. Can anyone tell me how the batteries hold up and their perspectives on the camera. Thanks in advance for all your input. Jen
