Dec 9, 2009 2:31PM PST

hello, i bought this cheap camera simply for taking quick photos yada yada...

basically i cannot figure out how to upload pictures from my computer onto the camera. its a drag and drop to get them off but that is not an option to get them back on. running windows xp. tried jpeg and bmp (which is what the camera gave me initially)

this camera is a christmas gift, but the pictures i put on are the real treat so any help is appreciated.

Kodak, nor any other camera maker wants you to upload photos to their camera.

So the USB cable is a one way street.
From the camera to your computer.
The camera must know what pictures it took so that the playback features will work.

....

By using a card reader on your computer, you can add pictures to a memory card.

BUT ... BUT ... BUT

If you put that card in a camera, the camera will not recognize the pictures and will not display them.
And you run the risk of confusing the camera and the camera may rewrite the File Information Block, which may keep even the computer from ever seeing those pictures again.

So ... Don't do it.

What you really want is a media display device.
Such as the photo iPod or similar device.
You then can write photo files to a memory card and put it into a media display device.
But, do not ever put that card into a camera.

You can find low cost media display devices for as little as $30.

thankyou for the reply. i knew i'd be able to upload the pictures onto an sd card but couldn't find any.

i will most likely put the photos onto a card, try and upload them from the camera once the card is inside the camera. if this doesn't work, i will keep the card and camera seperate.
