Kodak EasyShare transfer problem.

Sep 26, 2004 9:20AM PDT

(Kodak EasyShare DX3600 Zoom with Dock)

After installing new HD, the picture transfer would not work, and the original picture software would not fully load.

I phoned tech support, and was told I would need a new driver, and was directed to the download site. When I downloaded, it was an upgrade to the software. I do not care for it, as my original was simple and suited my needs. The picture transfer still did not work. I was instructed to do a clean re-install.

My first question - why would I need "new" drivers for my original software. Same PC configuration, just more HD and RAM

WindowsMe

Computer Configuration: Pentium III
80 GB HD
512MB SDRAM
IE Explorer 6.xxx
Norton Internet Security 2004
8x/4x/32 CD-RW
48x Max Variable CD ROM
Soundblaster 64v PCI card
Cable modem
.

My second is, there any way I can still use my original program?

The camera icon does not show up in My Computer. A driver icon does not show up in Properties under imaging devices unless I have the camera turned on.

I will do a clean re-install, regardless of which program I end up using.

But as the transfer did not work with the new program, I am befuddled. Something is missing, but I don't know what!

If I should have asked these questions in another forum, please advise.

Thank you.

Angeline

Having experienced the same problem although I Have a CX7310 and am running ME ... what would be your suggestions?

I had never done updates on ME for the 2 1/2 years of running it. Put easyshare on and it was perfect. Did some updates and added a burner and it would no longer work. Surprisingly it runs onkay on two other computers that are running Windows 98 and one I know does regular updates.

Many thanks

Easyshare Software

It is likely you introduced the problem when you installed the sofware for the CD burner.

There appears to be some incompatibility between some burner software and Easyshare software.

Look about 7 links just upward from this one and find a subject called "Kodak Easyshare/InCD software conflict".

Conflict with CD Burner
Feb 17, 2005 7:55AM PST

Thanks for your response ... much appreciated ... and yes ... found that out last night Happy

Someone previously mentioned that InCd was the problem. So I took that out and the camera worked ... put it back in and the camera didn't ... so took the CD Burner software off completely and installed another cheaper less complicated burner software and everything is fine.

Mind you ... the theory behind the problem was to upgrade the memory and speed of my computer Happy now screaming along the cyber highways Happy

Bright Blessings

I have been so mad for months about this, thinking I was the only one having this problem! My DELL support kept telling me that the issue was with my INTEL product! I really hope your advice will get me going again! THANKS!

Kodak Easy Share Problems
Mar 29, 2005 5:39AM PST

I have a Kodak DX3600 with the original disc, and I LOVED my Picture Transfer software, so does that mean I still have it on my disc and can use it?? How??
I bought a new computer, Dell with xp, and reinstalled the same disc for the camera, but somehow I've ended up with this STUPID Easy Share programme????
What do I need to do, I am pretty naive with this stuff, drivers, and stuff ...

Kodak EasyShare Transfer problems
Mar 29, 2005 4:57AM PST

I have just seen Angeline Booher's msg on the forum from 09/26/04, it is now 30th April 05, but I have been having the SAME problems as her and it is driving me crazy.
I was wondering if she got any resolution to this problem??
I have currently 21 reply emails from Kodak in Australia here about this, they have told me to do everything Angeline said she has done, cleaned, reinstalled, and I really do NOT like this EasyShare programme. I LOVED my Picture Transfer.
But currently I cannot use Easy Share at all, either direct from my dock or plugging the camera into the computer.
This has come about since I upgraded my computer to a Dell with xp.
I really just want my Picture Transfer back.
I know of noone here in Australia with this same problem, so I am anxious to see if this forum can help me.

You should read the rest of the Angeline Booher thread.

You can start with the 7th posting from the top, by gsystems.

He found the cause.

Kodak Easyshare problem
Mar 29, 2005 1:21PM PST

I tried and tried to find the InCD that gsystems says, but I couldn't find it on my computer. The only way I know how to look is on Search, and it came up with no findings.
I honestly don't know what to do next.

kodak easy share problem
Mar 29, 2005 1:25PM PST

this is what I got back from Kodak support today, for about 40th email, and they have been NO help at all ...

Regarding your inquiry, I have checked with our Technical Supervisor regarding your computer having no ENUM. We suggest that you contact a computer technician because you don't have USB installed. That is the reason why you don't have ENUM.

They told me to go to ENUM and do something, but I don't have ENUM, and now they are saying I don't have USB installed, I have NO idea what they both are and what the hang they have to do with easyshare not working ...

kodak easy share problem

I have received yet another response from Kodak support in australia today, and they tell me if I have no ENUM, which I can't find, then I don't have USB installed, whatever that is, and to get a computer technician in as that is the reason I don't have ENUM!!!!!!!!!! Not ONE thing in about 30-40 emails I have had from them has done any good to get easyshare going again, I cannot transfer at all.
I even copied some of the forum responses and posts and pasted them to them this morning, and not even a comment.
somehow I am beginning to think they really don't even care.
Why should I pay a computer technician to come in because I don't have USB installed, so I can have ENUM or something, I don't even know what they are!!
Has anyone got something positive they could help me with here please??

kodak easyshare conflict
Apr 29, 2005 4:21PM PDT

I resolved the problem by doing the following:
1. Read everyone's own problem
2. Followed the FAQ at Kodak
3. Importantly followed the kodak steps to clean old files and clear the 'loadstartup' programs in the ms config.
4. I download the updated software from the kodak site.
4a. turned off the nortons security and antivirus only during step 5 & 6.
5. I used the custom install selecting the first connection program only.
6. install again this time selecting the easyshare program and update in the custom install.
7. I did this on two different computers P4 (xp homed edition) and an old p3 (xp upgrade and Win 98.
8. They now work on both computers

To install or not to install?
Jun 25, 2005 10:20PM PDT

So I was reading up on the internet trying to decide what kind of digital camera to get. It seemed everyone could agree that Kodak Easyshare has great cameras for a great price but horrible terrible software. I decided that I would go ahead and buy CX7530 and just skip the software (I have Windows XP and have often found that my computer detects accessories connected to the USB and treats them like a new drive).

Well now that I got my camera, it says all over the brochure that if I don't install the software before I try to upload my photos the software may load incorrectly. So now I am paranoid that I am going to need the software to use my camera and printer dock. I really have no desire to use the software if I can just drag the photos into my documents and edit them using my current image software (photoimpact). Does anyone have any insight? Will I be able to use my camera and printer without the software?

If I do need to use the software, yes I will download the latest version from the website and I have searched my computer and the add/remove programs and have not found InCD. I'm trying to figure out if I could still have InCD somehow though because I am able to treat CDs like a floppy.

Well thanks in advance for the help!

Camera Software
Jun 26, 2005 12:46AM PDT

If your computer treats the camera like a hard disk, there is no need to load any camera software.

I have several cameras with a total of three different memory card formats, so I bought a 8-in-one card reader. My computer sees it as a hard disk.

I never connect my camera(s) to the computer and
I have no camera software loaded.

Use your favorite image software to edit and print the photos.

I use Windows explorer to move the camera files to the hard disk. I put them in a folder named for the camera (i.e. Kodak).
In this folder, I add a folder each time I download some photos. I name these folders with the date and a short description (i.e. 20050626Vacation).

Now you don't need any special cataloging software.

EasyShare Use
Jul 16, 2005 8:07AM PDT

I agree completely. I use a little USB card reader and it appears just like a hard drive to Windows. You can copy or delete pictures with Explorer and edit them with any image processing program. I even had to defragment the card 'drive'.

In my opinion EasyShare was designed for users who know nothing about photography or computers and take just a few (eg 20) pictures at a time.
