Knoppix boot cd

Nov 7, 2004 1:11PM PST

I seen a post here a few months ago where R.Proffitt recommended getting a Knoppix boot cd.I downloaded the file and made a boot cd,it is great so I thought I should share what I used it for so far and still learning.
I am on here now with both my hard drives switched off, just using the boot disk.If you lose your hard drive its all you need to surf the net or get your e-mails.Have used it also in a friends pc to burn data from a hard drive that was unbootable and left the disk in the cd drive so he could surf, check e-mail and play the more then 20 games that is on there until he got new hd.He is on cable and pc left on,if turned off accounts and passwords have to be reentered.
If you are getting crashes or freeze-ups you can use it as your o\s to help pin down the trouble.Sure there are more uses for it,just learning to use it myself.

Once you get your KNOPPIX working, then it dawns on you what you can do with an OS (and applications) on a CD.

Saving data is icing on the cake and makes you ask "Hey Microsoft, give us something like that!"

Cheers and best of continued luck.

Bob

PS. It's been written that we make our own luck...
