Knoppix and Bios...

Hello, I have downloaded the Knoppix CD and have only reviewed it once in several months. It will not boot up on my XP system from a cold start anymore. If I recall there is a setting in bios or msconfig that may be necesary in order to start up the disc. When I load the CD and start my computer cold it will not pull up the Knoppix. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Daniel

In order for your PC to boot....

In reply to: Knoppix and Bios...

from a cd, the bios must know about it. Enter the Bios and make the proper adjustment to the boot order, choosing your CD/DVD drive as the first device.

I tried and succeeded using F2 to get into Bios. However at that point I am kind of lost? What do I do at that point? I tried to to adjust the CD but was unable to get it to accept? Thanks, Dan

Navigate the BIOS

Once you are in Settings (bios) Use the up/down arrows to highlight each major listing and use the Enter key to open them, once you find the boot sequence setting use the up/down arrows to highlight the first boot device and use the +/- keys to change it to CD/ROM, once done press ESC to return to the main menu and scroll to Save and Exit, press Enter and make sure the Y is present, if not press Y on the keyboard and press enter. you can already have the CD in the drive and it will pick it up when it reboots.
