If you have, perhaps we could go over the sections that aren't specific enough for your system particulars. Modern receivers have a lot of bells/whistles and do require configuration before you hear anything, so maybe that's what is tripping you up thus far.

That said, here's my 'recipe' on how to connect everything. FWIW, a decent enough BD player can be had for <= $100. Your choice. Oh, and you need more HDMI cables & a digital optical cable. Skip the 3.5mm analog cable.

What exactly are you trying to achieve w/ the laptop, btw(?) Understand, this type of stuff requires you to be verbose and specific about what you are doing and what you have tried already (e.g. software settings/cables/connections/etc.). Also, which laptop do you have? which make/model number? What sort of audio outputs does it have? ...

Comcast X1 (HDMI out) -->> (HDMI in) Marantz NR1501

Marantz (HDMI out) --> (HDMI in) Vizio HDTV

BD player (HDMI out) --> (HDMI in) Marantz

*the following connection will provide you w/ audio from your smart tv apps and send it along to the receiver.
Vizio HDTV (digital optical out) --> (digital optical in) Marantz

Speaker & sub connections should be copacetic based on what you have written at least. Review the manual again regarding appropriate surround sound configuration, etc.
