Kit for 7D advise

Jun 30, 2011 3:54AM PDT

Hi
I'm just about to go into boat photography and having done my research believe the 7D would be the best camera to go for.
I would like to buy a few good quality lenses and wonder if you could give me some advice ........
My initial thoughts are 70-200 f2.8 LII USM IS and the 24 - 105 f4 L IS USM - which would give me a fair range (although not wide angle) and these are L quality lenses and image stabilised.
What do you all think?
I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

Lenses

Buying the 7D with the kit lens aside, personally I'd go for the 17-55mm f/2.8 instead of the 24-105mm. I'd rather have the wider angle and aperture, even if it would leave me with a small gap between 55 and 70mm.

Good idea but it's not an L series is it?
I don't think I'll buy a bundle as I'm not sure about either the 15-85 or 18-135.
It'so confusing.

L Lens

The 17-55mm f/2.8 is not a L lens, but who cares? Not me. Testing shows it's a very good lens optically, and that's all that really counts. Really, just about the only reason Canon did not give the the 17-55mm f/2.8 the L series designation is that it is an EF-S lens for crop sensor cameras only...the L designation is reserved for EF lenses that will work on both Canon's full and crop sensor cameras.

You're right

You're right but the only downside would be if I ever upgraded to a full frame camera.
What are your thoughts on the kit lenses?
