Question

Kindle Fire 5th Generation

Feb 18, 2016 10:40AM PST

When looking at live broadcasting site from the Kindle Fire, I am not able to view or hear anything, it say's on the site that I visited "This plugin is not supported" I have tried Google and the Silk Browser and keep getting the same message. Is there an app for the Kindle so I am able to view & hear on these different sites? In closing I was told that I can use the Dolphin Browser but I am unsure if I should do this and as well putting a Virus Protection on the Kindle & what Virus Protection should I use as well? Thank you and I look forward to your reply regarding this ongoing problem..

Answer
So far I've yet to hear a need for antivirus on the Kindle.

That said I did get asked for an antivirus for a smart TV yesterday. Microsoft's OS seems to make folk think we need this everywhere.

Even with the Dolphin my bet it will fail since many used plugins. As this is not a true Android or Windows machine, the plugin may not exist.

Ask the site if they intend to develop support on the kindle.

Kindle Fire 5th Generation

Thank you very much for your prompt reply, now I know there are several phone users on this broadcasting site that doesn't have an app developed as of this email, and they are also downloading the dolphin browsers and also using a version of a virus protection? So if I read this correctly then what you are telling me regarding the Kindle there is nothing that I can do to hear or see what is going on, due to the fact that it isn't a Windows based for the Kindle. Yes I have asked and all they keep saying is that they are working on it and this has been since 2014? Is there anything compatible to use on the Kindle to be able to view & hear the broadcasters? Again, Thank you very much and I will also be waiting for your reply.. KUDOS to C|Net for a great resource to all of us.

This would be a first.

To get virus protection you first need a virus. I've yet to read there is a virus for the Kindle.

I didn't write there is nothing you can do. You can try but the chances are slim due to the plugin.

As to your last question, I don't know the site in question but it seems odd they would ignore such a large user base.
