Question

Kids mode made my notification bar useless

Apr 18, 2015 4:36PM PDT

Hey

Just brought a Samsung Tab 4, 10.1 wifi. All was fine out of the box and everything worked as expected. Then i installed Samsung Kids Mode, and as soon as I used it the first time, notification bar would not work/pull down in normal mode.

Restarted the tablet, still no notification bar.
Cleared the cache still no luck, the bar just wont pull down.
Factory reset, that worked.

Installed Kids mode, and yet again notification bar won't pull down.

Any suggestions or others out there who have noticed this problem?

how do we know you are not the kid trying to break out of kids mode Happy when kids mode was installed, you should have created a 4 digit pin in order to bypass kids mode. you will have to touch the icon wiht parent/child holding holding hands then enter the pin. from there you should be able to click on the notifications

Might work, but not in Denmark

Well, of cause i did enter both pin and backup pin no problems there. But when I exit kids mode, using the pin Wink, then at the homescreen the notification bar does not work.

Anyway, returned the tablet to the store, and tried to install kids mode on another Tab 4, same problem. So it has to be a general software issue with the firmware for the nordic countries (Denmark). Did get a full refund, so no probs. there.

Has to say i' am a bit disappointed since the kids mode is one thing reviews and samsung seems to push as a sales pitch.

It's an ongoing issue.

PC (remember those) are personal computers and it's counter to their basic programming to ignore who's on the interface. While there has been progress it's buggy in most systems. Take a look at the Amazon Fire which has it's own kid system (playtime.)
